Digital LED controller offers two-color mixing and near 100% TRIAC dimmer compatibilty

The CS163X family of two-channel TRIAC dimmable digital LED controllers provide two-channel LED color mixing for efficient high-quality light and near 100% TRIAC dimmer compatibility. The family is claimed to offer up to 30% higher lumens per watt compared to single-channel drivers while providing improved color temperature quality.

An innovative digital architecture provides the CS163X family with the ability to control two LED strings using components typically used to control a single LED string, resulting in lower system costs compared to today’s two-channel solutions. In addition, the CS163X incorporates powerline calibration technology, allowing manufacturers to calibrate bulb characteristics such as light output and color temperature by sending commands via the ac mains terminals during the final manufacturing stage.

Features include up to 85% efficiency, greater than 0.9 power factor, and flicker-free dimming. It offers soft-start and protection features, such as output open/short, current-sense resistor open/short, and external overtemperature using NTC. Housing is in 16-pin SOIC packages.
