The overview of Wireless Xpress BGX Modules
Silicon Labs Wireless Xpress BGX Modules provide a BLE cable replacement solution with no wireless firmware development required. Using only the BGX13's UART interface, embedded systems can connect and communicate across a BLE link to smartphones and other BGX devices. With the BGX13, Bluetooth doesn’t have to be an intimidating interface to manage, even for developers who have never worked with Bluetooth.. The BGX13 is designed to function like a cable replacement, with a serial link between BGX and embedded MCU. The device supports secure connections with encrypted communication, bonding, and ‘just works’ and passkey pairing. The module is Bluetooth 5 compliant, offering a 2M PHY in addition to a 1M PHY. The BGX13 is available in both a PCB module and SiP.

The BGX13P PCB module and BGX13S SiP integrate the built-in Bluetooth protocol stack controlled by the Xpress command API and the pre-programmed cable replacement firmware in a module with a PCB area of only 51 mm2. Both modules are certified by Bluetooth, CE, FCC, Japan and Korea.
This module is supported by the Wireless Xpress BGX13P Starter Kit, which includes a BGX13P expansion board pre-installed with the BGX13P module. The BGX13P expansion board can be connected to the PC via a USB port, or it can be used in conjunction with the Silicon Labs EFM8 or EFM32 Starter Kit to mimic embedded host work.

The Wireless Xpress BGX13x module provides a configurable development experience with all the components required by engineers, enabling Bluetooth technology-based IoT applications for rapid development, system package (SiP) or PCB modules Bluetooth 5 compatibility is available for a wide range of IoT applications, including smart home devices, sensors and industrial monitoring.
